Darren's Testimony

"For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. - 2 Corinthians 5:21"

A hunger and desire to see healing was inside me, through disappointment and not seeing much happen, I was at a place where I kind of just didn’t bother laying hands on the sick that much. But I heard a testimony of a evangelist who just kept laying hands on the sick in the name of Jesus and set his heart on breaking through with perseverance. He started seeing healing break out, and became  aware that nearly all of this praying for the sick was just taking place among believers and not the unsaved. When Jesus gave the power and authority over sickness it was all connected to going out with the gospel.

A man came to minister here in  England who lived in John G  Lakes old home. We invited this man over as when he sent two handkerchiefs he had prayed over in the post to us the manifest presence of God just filled our home. While I was with him in a service station I noticed a lady who was in a lot of pain. So I asked if we could pray for her. She happened to be a believer and said yes.  Sometime later the lady contacted me and said the main aorta valve to her heart was healed.

Another time I met a lady with chronic asthma while working on her house. I held her hand and prayed for her and within three days the asthma had gone.

On another occasion a Christian lady phoned me because her son was diving abroad and got the Benz. While praying for her son on the phone she was granted a very clear vision form the LORD and she said to me, "I can see my son in decompression chamber," and she described with detail of what the chamber looked like and said to me her son had just sat up. Her son was abroad she had never seen a decompression chamber before, and she told me she had also never had a vision before. She phoned up her son after praying with me and found out her vision was just exactly as she had seen. Her son described to her how he had just got up at the time when she saw and was healed in the name of Jesus.

So I found myself seeing that I had to return to the original mandate of the master: to heal the sick. I had been taught to rely on my ability to persuade rather than relying the power of God to demonstrate. I didn’t see everyone healed, but just kept praying and laying hands on the sick, while getting impartation from believers who were already seeing healing manifest in their lives.

On another occasion, while at the hospital, I met a heroin addict who had just given birth. The baby  was born with an addiction to methodone as the mother was on methodone. The baby wasn’t well,so the mother went to the hospital chapel to write a prayer of desperation in the book. She asked God to send somebody. I turned up and met her outside the hospital and she had me go with her into the baby unit. I prayed for her baby as I went in, and I could already feel the manifest presence  of the Holy Spirit resting on the baby. I walked in and prayed over the very small baby addicted to methodone. After leaving I met the mother sometime a week later and she wrote a letter to me telling how the nurses said the baby got unusually better and the addiction level of methadone in the blood had gone down in a way that doesn’t happen normally.

I realized that I was seeing unsaved people get healed a lot easier than saved. It was almost as if believers were so busy trying to get enough faith to get healed, they forgot how to receive the free grace of God! And the unsaved don’t know how to strive or try and earn the healing, and as a result they get healed.

I still had to keep pushing through disappointment of not seeing everyone healed, but I kept persevering. On many occasions, maybe weeks or months later, I would meet people who I had prayed for and they would say "by the way, I was better after you prayed." While walking down the street, every time I saw someone sick it was as if everything in me just wanted to go over to them and pray for them. I realized that the problem wasn’t the harvest, it was the labourers as the scripture says. You don’t sow seed in a harvest, you reap. The word of GOD says he who gathers in harvest is a wise son.

Proverbs 10:5 He who gathers in summer is a wise son; He who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame.

And one of the tools for labourers is healing; a labourer needs his tools to get the job done without them we fail miserably.

Matthew 10:1 And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease.

Matthew 10:8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.

The need for labourers for the great harvest at present demands our fervent praying.

Luke 10:2 Then He said to them, “The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.

Many are saying tomorrow is the harvest just keeps sowing but JESUS is now and start reaping

John 4:35 Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!

Laziness today is one of the main problems in the harvest.

Proverbs 20:4 The lazy man will not plow because of winter; He will beg during harvest and have nothing.

We can miss our appointed harvest, that is why Jesus said lift up your eyes and look at the fields. When our eyes actually open, we will see souls waiting to be saved but no one present to preach the gospel, as they wander blindly over the cliff edge of time into a lost eternity of eternal judgement. This is why we need to focus our attention and take time to see these unreached souls and allow the compassion of the LORD to compel us to go. This sometimes requires the eyes of our heart to be opened and the compassion and true love of the Spirit to move you. After that, a deep appreciation and respect for the gospel going out is awakened in you and it's difficult to disregard the lost.

Jeremiah 8:20 “The harvest is past, The summer is ended, And we are not saved!”
