The Eagle Who Was Scared To Fly

"Up into the sky upon a thermal wind of grace

I realized what keeps those who truly run the race"

page 1

The eagle who was scared to fly

And thought why go high when down here I can just lie

The potential of these wings

Surpasses what my expectation brings

But its only the day I leave the nest

That what I have been taught gets put to the test

Its such  a big jump for someone enjoying the rest

The wind is blowing; the senior eagle bids me come

And tells me its no longer the season for just getting fed by mum

He told me that in all that season of  training

It was for this call that was the reason

So hesitantly I lift the wings

And felt the raise that the wind brings

Enraptured by the senior call

I left the nest half expecting to fall

Only to find the wings lifted me high

Up into the sky upon a thermal wind of grace

I realized what keeps those who truly run the race

With my eyes upon the one who called

I found my destiny being fulfilled

That it wasn’t the nest what was best

It just felt that way because of the rest

But once left and put all to the test

I say to all, obey your upward call
